Changing network adapter
Hello,
Due to hardware problems with the builtin NICs, we want to add a discreet network card and use it for connectivity. I mention that we have dedicated IPs mapped through ipaliasses.
Besides updating /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-xxx files and the new NIC in Basic WHM Setup -> Basic Config -> Ethernet Device... is there anything else I need to change/update?
What I am the most interested is if the existing ipaliases will come up by default or I have to do something special to manually remap them to the new NIC name. And of course if there are other caveats.
Thanks!

I don't believe you'd need to do anything else, but a cPanel support ticket would not hurt. 0 -
Those are the correct steps, but you will likely need to restart ipaliases so they load on the correct interface, after you change the WHM config to use the correct device. service ipaliases stop service ipaliases start 0 -
cPanel itself doesn't manage the hardware. As long as it's good in the OS, we should read that data just fine in the interface, such as the Basic Setup page you mentioned where you can change the default interface where new IPs are added. 0 -
I did the aforementioned steps but the ipaliases remained on the old interface (no matter how many ipaliases and network restarts I have issued). In the end, only a server reboot fixed this particular problem. One more thing that I needed was an ARP cache clear from the datacenter so that I didn't have to wait for 30 minutes for the IPs to start working from the new MAC address. 0
