Stop prefixing sub-domains with www

Every sub-domain I add results in the www entry also being added. But I don't want to use the www version, and so I am not adding the relevant DNS A record, which results in cPanel/WHM complaining the sub-domain is not secure because the www counterpart has no certificate because it does not resolve to any IP addresses on the Internet. How can I stop cPanel/WHM adding the www for sub-domains?

  You can try putting in a feature request or search if there already is one. It's just the way that cPanel works and you can't stop it.

  Go into WHM and edit the DNS Zone Templates to remove the www from the default records.
