Hey there! If the system isn't booting, that indicates problems deeper than the cPanel software. You'll need to reach out to OVH to have them check things out on their end.

Hi. just a little update. So, i reinstalled the OS entirely. Rebooted the server and it rebooted just fine. I then installed CPanel/WHM and after that was complete, I attempted to reboot the server. The server did not boot up. This is 100% related to the CPanel installation. Unforunately, OVH does not offer software support so I am basically just put back in rescue mode and asked to do some investigations. I don't even know where to begin to look.

So, after installing a premade OVH template that had Cpanel and Almalinux 8...the reboot issues did not happen again. However, i have another server which I didnt use the OVH Cpanel template...although I dont think it has reboot issues (i already rebooted it once) I am a little scared I may in the future. Should I be concerned? Why did installing Almalinux 8 first, then Cpanel after have issues with this particular server?

If you feel like trying (yet again) install Alma V8 and then do a yum update. My "guess" is something with the kenrel/initrd is not compatible with OVH, and it's not really cPanel it's the updates that cPanel does on install. They template would be prebuilt for their environment.

So, im not a technical guy and need some help here. Recently just got an OVH server. Installed a WHM/Cpanel trial license with Almalinux8. Installed Mariadb 10.6, csf and the Engintron plugin. Ive used all of those before on other servers with Cpanel so its nothing new. Install went smooth. Then it said i needed to reboot my server to update some things. I did that but now it always gets stuck on some sort of login screen when booted from HD. I tried boot from OVH network mode and i get different errors on start up. Please see the image attached. First image is what i get stuck on when i boot from HD. alt="3cb38e99e413b6de57580837e536807a737203a7.png">84181

I suppose this is in OVH KVM? If you do there: service network start your server should come back online. What I did was: 1. yum remove NetworkManager 2. systemctl enable network 3. reboot

My guess is that it's also related to NetworkManager as well.

I never did find out what caused the issue. However, installing an OVH template which has Cpanel preinstalled resolved the issue for me. Their support also recommended that as well as they said installing the OS first then Cpanel from source may create issues so they seem to know that something may not be compatible with their network.

I am interested in knowing what kind of partitioning you get when you install cPanel of an OVH template. And you will get MySQL 8 also?

Yes MySQL 8 is preinstalled. Not sure if the config file to get Mariadb would work. Cant remember the partitioning, i think it was just some standard default and the same as if you didn't use the OVH Cpanel template.

No, if they are using an image, you wouldn't have the option to use the pre-installation configuration files.
