WP Toolkit Deluxe - Use Existing Subdomain & DB for Cloning
During cloning, we can only create a new subdomain and database for our designated clone. We can't use our upfront created ones. Is this already possible, but I'm missing it or if not should I create a feature request?
I always create subdomains and DBs upfront for all my installations so this would be a really good option to have.

Hey there! I just want to make sure I understand the situation - when you say "upfront created ones" this is a database that you have created in cPanel that isn't currently linked to a WordPress installation? 0 -
Yes, exactly. I've created a dev. subdomain and a DB for this purpose before trying to clone a website. 0 -
On a test server I created an empty database in cPanel, and then inside WP Toolkit I used the Database dropdown and manually entered the database name: After that, the install completed with that database name, and things worked well. Are you able to try that on your side? 0 -
Have you installed a new WP or cloned an existing one into an already-created DB? 0 -
This was specifically a new installation, but I see the option in your screenshot for the clone. Can you not manually enter the database name there on your end? 0 -
I just figured out that it is possible to use the existing subdomain. But I still don't know if we can use the existing DB. Instead of testing and spending time back and forth can you please ask the dev team: Is it possible in the cloning window/interface, to specify an existing database, and by existing, I mean the new empty one not used by the original WP installation? 0 -
Yes, this is possible in that interface. 0 -
So in that case, existing DB user, password, and table prefix will be used for a clone? 0 -
No, unfortunately it only lets you choose the database name. There's no option to use a specific user or table prefix with the cloning tool. If you wanted that, it would need to be a feature request. 0 -
Made a feature requests? Thank you. 0 -
Done and done - and you've now made enough comments so you shouldn't be moderated in the future! 0
