Upgrade Rocky linux 8.9 to the latest Rocky linux 9.x

Good afternoon all, In the past I have upgrade my server from Centos to Rocky. The community at the time provided a wonderful script to help with that migration from Centos to Rocky cPanel elevate documentation . Now I have Rocky 8.9 currently running on server and want to update the server to the latest 9.x version. Rocky Linux Release Version Guide - Rocky Linux Wiki Just want to get ahead of the end of support and get on the latest version. Anyone done this or have a guide that they can provide? Thanks

    Hey there! We do not have an upgrade tool for later versions just yet, as the main focus was getting users off CentOS 7. I've reached out to the team to see if we plan to offer a similar upgrade tool for version 8, but I would not try running any non-cPanel upgrade tools on a cPanel system.

    At this point, we're seeing what AlmaLinux develops as they created the original upgrade script, and then we modified it specifically to work with cPanel. Once we release something, there will be announcements for sure!

    Hey cPRex!

    This is not a high priority item, but each day ticks the priority up a notch, as I'm sure you know. Active support for Alma 8 is dead in a month, and security support is further out, but it would probably be good to get things moving.

    I used the elevate tool to take my servers from 7 to 8, which worked pretty well. I was an early adopter so i had some issues, but those issues helped me help you guys and others. I helped to resolve several github issues with my experience and feedback. All in all, it was a decent experience.

    I recently used the AlmaLinux leapp tool to upgrade some of my non-cpanel servers from 8 to 9 and everything went smoothly. I guess i'm also curious if you guys have a timeline for building an 8-to-9 elevate adaptation of the leapp tools?

    I don't have any information on an 8-9 tool just yet.

    Appreciate the work and keeping the community informed.  Looking forward to any news. The Elevation script tool was a life saver and hope to see a solution for the OS upgrade for Rocky 8.9 to Rocky 9.x.

     

    Rocky Linux 8.9, released on November 22, 2023, has active support ending on May 31, 2024.

    At this point we have no plans to make a similar tool for RockyLinux.
