Backups not completing
Hi CPMichael, sorry to resurrect this thread, but just wanted to say that I have an account that is not being backed up although it is selected for backup in the "Backup User Selection" section. Any ideas what could be going on?
Also, a bit of a strange behavior is noted with FTP backups, the new backups go where I tell them to go, but are creating empty directories along with the accounts.. For example, the backup directory is /Backups/cPanel/ and what I get is /Backups/cPanel/servername/date/ and inside that sub, accounts as well as another Backups directory that is empty... Strange indeed.. Happens every day, and I have to go in and delete the spare directories when I look to make sure all the accounts are backed up.. (Although they arent)..

Hello :) I moved this post to it's own thread. Please check the log files in: /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup/ Are there any references to the account that is not backed up? Thank you. 0 -
Hi Michael, yes.. there are references to the account in 4 of the 11 files in that directory. 0 -
Do you notice any error messages when the account is backed up? Please post any such errors to this thread so we can get a better understanding of why it's failing. Thank you. 0 -
Thanks Michael, not seeing any error messages. as a matter of fact it looks like the file is being archived. If I knew where the backups are being stored on the server, I would look there to see if there are any files.. but, as far as FTP goes, the file for that account is not being sent to the FTP server. 0 -
The remote destination transfer log is located at: /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup_transporter.log
Check this file to see if there are any problems with the transfer itself. Thank you.0 -
ok, just found the hidden directory backups.. in it would you believe is exactly one tarball in the accounts subdirectory.. the one I am missing.. So, none of the other accounts are being stored locally in backups and the one account that isnt making it to the FTP server is being stored locally.. WTF??? 0 -
Hi Michael, while searching through the cPanel forums for more folks that had the same problem I found this thread..
It seems that the right account had ownership of the directory, but the permissions were d---------. so, something got messed up. I am CHMOD'ing the directory to 750 per your suggestion in that other thread and running a backup to see if we are good to go right now.. Still have the mystery directory creation problem, every night I get a new directory called cPanel with 2 empty subdirectories (one with the date and one with the server name) in my FTP backup.. not sure where that comes from as it is not configured in WHM anywhere that I know of.. see attached..0 -
Well, it did the same thing again. skipped the one account directory and created the empty cpanel with subdirectories.. I have pruned the transporter log down to today only and attached it.. There is the automated after midnight run then there is another manual run this morning around 8am.. Perhaps the mystery is in that file somewhere? See attached.. 0 -
Hello, Could you open a support ticket using the link within my signature? Please post the ticket number here once you have opened it, so that we can update this thread accordingly. 0 -

To update, it appears the backups are now successfully uploaded to the remote FTP server after increasing the timeout value in the backup configuration page in WHM. Thank you. 0 -
Hey Michael, not so fast!! ;) Chris is still working it today.. We thought we had it isolated, but no luck same issue after last night's backup.. 0 -

It looks like two tickets are open for separate issues. Feel free to let us know the outcome when both of the tickets have been resolved. Thank you.0
