Awstats error
I recently had some issues with our blog. I had the person who originally developed it check into it. He found issues relating to the .htaccess file. He was able to get the blog up and running again. To prevent future issues since our website and blog were in the same directory he moved the blog to a new directory, copied the database over and created a new cPanel account.
I am receiving this error when I attempt to update statistics in AWStats:
"Error: Couldn't open server log file "/usr/local/apache/domlogs/blog.yourdomain.com" : Permission denied
Setup ('/home/bhfblog/tmp/awstats/awstats.blog.yourdomain.com.conf' file, web server or permissions) may be wrong.
Check config file, permissions and AWStats documentation (in 'docs' directory)."
I might add that stats were showing for the day this operation occurred but no stats have shown since.
What "config" file is this referring to? The only file I find that might be related is /public_html/wp-config.php. Which does not seem likely.
Thoughts?
Thank you for your time.

Re: AW-Stats error Hello :) I don't believe the Awstats error is in any way related to your PHP script. Check the ownership of the Apache domlog file that you referenced and let us know the output. EX: stat /usr/local/apache/domlogs/blog.yourdomain.com
Also, you mentioned moving the script to a subdirectory but also creating a new cPanel account. Could you elaborate on this? Thank you.0 -
Re: AW-Stats error Thank you for your response. Please note I am not well versed, OK, at all versed in this. I didn't think at had anything to do with php script either. that was the only file I could find with "config" in it. Part of the error message said to look at the "config" file. Can you inform me of how I might check the ownership of the domlog? Here is all I received regarding the recent fix to our blog: "The reason why the blog failed was due to a mixture of user error, wordpress updates, and cs-cart overwriting .htaccess rewrites. This caused both javascript and css to stop loading. I"ve since modified the entire account to create a new cpanel container (bhfblog) for your future convenience; The database was copied from welldres/public_html/blog/ I am not able to elaborate on this further. I certainly can contact the person that made these changes but would not like to bother him as he is a busy individual. Thank you for your time. Eric 0 -
Do you have root access to this system, or do you only have a hosting account with a provider? If you do not have root access, please contact your hosting provider for assistance with the error message you see in Awstats. Thank you. 0 -
I do have root access. Thank you, Eric 0 -
Permissions are set to 640 on the "/usr/local/apache/domlogs/blog.yourdomain.com" 0 -
Make sure the ownership of that file is set to "root:username" (group ownership set to the account username). If the issue continues, feel free to open a support ticket using the link in my signature so we can take a closer look. You can post the ticket number here so we can update this thread with the outcome. Thank you. 0
