restore from crash

It seems my dedicated server suffered a hardware failure, eventually resulting in a rebuid. No worries, I have backups of the user accounts and the system files safely on a remote FTP. How the heck do I perform a system restore, i can't figure it out.

  The docs should be of some use: Restore a Full Backup/cpmove File - cPanel Documentation There is no system restore tool. You'll be reconfiguring the server and securing it, first, and then restoring your accounts using the docs mentioned above. HTH!

  so performing a system files backup is a waste of time then ?

  Not at all. You'll need to restore what you need from those System Files, manually though. The docs list the files involved: System Backups - cPanel Documentation To add, some of them you may not need to bother with, they'd have been reconfigured when you setup and reconfigured the server from scratch again.

  I was hoping the system files backup would be similar to a restore on a PC, thus not having to reinstall CSF and reconfigure cphulk, hosts etc. I think, picking the bones out of the backup would probably take longer than just doing it manually.
