determine usage difference
I have 2 accounts on my server, and i'm trying to determine why there's a huge difference in size.
account 1, has about 15 mailboxes associated to it. however, there's no traffic yet, so these mailboxes are empty.
account 2, has 2 mailboxes, both empty, it's public_html folder is an exact copy from account 1.
under whm/list accounts
account 1 is 380mb, account 2 is 21mb.
would 13 empty mailboxes account for 360mb, and if not any ideas where or how i can determine where the discrepancy has come from ?

Check your Disk Usage in that account's cPanel. Where does it say the space is being used, there? 0 -
i've temporarily moved public_html and the disk usage hasn't changed. I assume this isn't accurate ? 0 -
Where does it say the space is being used, there? Is it in Public_html? It is accurate, but not updated in real time. 0 -
Where could you possibly move public_html out of the way that would make any difference? All files owned by that user, are calculated. 0 -
using config file explorer, i moved it to another account, just to see what difference it made. It doesn't appear to have made any. Don't panic, the domain isn't live. I checked in each Cpanel and it tallies with what's being displayed at the list accounts level. I'm guessing what ever is consuming 340mb is outside of public_html [COLOR="silver">- - - Updated - - - other usage is showing 239mb. so it's outside of the home directory [COLOR="silver">- - - Updated - - - are there any commands i can run at ssh level to tell me ? 0 -

You should make sure file ownership didn't get changed to root, or Reseller user, depending on who you were logged into WHM as when you moved it. are there any commands i can run at ssh level to tell me ?
How can I find out where all of a user's files are? - cPanel Documentation You might look for backups owned by that user.0 -
i did find a few backups, but nothing that equates anywhere near 239mb. considering the domain isn't live, i think i'm going to opt to delete it and recreate. I know it's probably not the best solution, but It's only 10 minutes work, and i'll be sure it's at least clean. [COLOR="silver">- - - Updated - - - blimey i'm even more confused. I deleted the account and ran find / -user username -ls no files were found as the acc no longer exists. I recreated the account, and it's 68mb, which is 40mb larger than an existing account which contains html files ??????? [COLOR="silver">- - - Updated - - - I deleted the account and deleted the package. Created a new package and account, disk usage = 0mb Recreated the original package and account, disk usage = 68mb i removed all the backup files for this user. i removed the account and package again, this time creating just the user and adding him to a new package. disk usage = 68mb, so it seems to be following the user account. 0 -
Do you have root access to the server? If so, feel free to open a support ticket using the link in my signature so we can take a closer look. You can post the ticket number here so we can update this thread with the outcome. Thank you. 0
