dkim and spf are they working
The scenario goes like this.
My father has a paid for email address, but being of the older generation, couldn't remember or find where he'd written his incoming and outgoing server addresses.
For a quick fix (about two years ago), i configured his outgoing mail server to go through my domain on my hosting plan.
Incoming Server = dad@paidforaddress.com
Outgoing Server = myemailaccount@hostedplan.com
Last week, I migrated my hosted domain to my dedicated server, which has dkim and spf configured.
I'd overlooked the fact, that dad was sending via my domain, and it dawned on me today, that he might be having issues.
He isn't and can quite easily send emails through my domain.
Of course he has the correct logon details, but i thought spf was supposed to stop this from happening ?

SPF can only advise the receiving server of whether or not the mail came from an IP authorized for that domain. It's up to the receiving mailserver how to handle it from there. If you send mail to a gmail account and view source, you should get a good view of if the SPF checks were good/bad and if the mail was signed with DKIM. 0 -
Hello :) Right, as mentioned in the previous post, it's up the the receiving mail server to determine how it want's to handle the email. In some cases, SPF records are checked but not enforced. Thank you. 0 -
