Go back to MySQL instead of MariaDB via cPanel
Hello friends, how are you?
Some time ago I made the migration from MySQL to MariaDB due to suggestions that the MariaDB be more optimized and consume less server resources compared to MySQL.
However, for small databases, I suppose that is not a difference in performance. Also, I have experienced errors in scripts that did not happen when I used MySQL (like phpBB instalation when creating DB and tables).
So I'd like to go back to MySQL, however, through the cPanel is not possible.
How do I go back to using MySQL instead of MariaDB?
Thank you in advance for your attention and help.

Hello, Did you use cPanel/WHM to upgrade to MariaDB? If so, per the warnings in the interface and in our documentation: The system considers MariaDB to be an upgrade to MySQL. If you change the database engine to MariaDB, you cannot change back to MySQL. Thank you. 0 -
Why is there this limitation? Because you can not go back to MySQL after upgrading to MariaDB? Thank you very much! 0 -

Well my last post got deleted so let's try again... Often, people ask "cPanel has this behavior I don't like. Is there a way to work around it?" and the response is "Put in a feature suggestion." Nowhere is it made clear that most suggestions take weeks/months to get in, if they get in at all. This is the nature of software development, but people need to realize that if they are facing a situation where they need to change something beyond what cPanel allows, putting in a suggestion is not going to provide them an expedient result. If they are having a problem that they need resolved *today*, then they need to keep pushing for answers. 0
