SpamAssassin status On/Off with outgoing scanning enabled.
Hi All,
I currently use MailChannels but want to cancel the services as it has become very expensive and I feel that I can get the same result using the built in SpamAssassin utility.
I am planning on enabling the following features:
outgoing_spam_scan (Scan outgoing messages for spam and reject based on the Apache SpamAssassin" internal spam_score setting)
outgoing_spam_scan_over_int (Scan outgoing messages for spam and reject based on defined Apache SpamAssassin" score)
I have some questions around it that I was hoping you geniuses could assist me with.

- What real benefit does one setting or the other setting have over its counterpart?
- Can they both be enabled at the same time? Should they be? If not, which one should I enable?
- Does SpamAssassin have to be enabled by default on the clients account for incoming mails in order for it to scan their outgoing messages as well?

Hello :) 1. Both options perform the same action, but each option offers a different scoring requirement. 2. No, you can only enable one option at a time. I suggest using "Scan outgoing messages for spam and reject based on the Apache SpamAssassin" internal spam_score setting" if you prefer to use the same spam_score setting that's utilized for incoming email. 3. No, it just needs to be enabled as a service on the server (WHM >> Service Manager). Thank you. 0 -
Hello, I also want to use the built in SpamAssassin utility to make it for Outbound Spam Filter via enabling: outgoing_spam_scan (Scan outgoing messages for spam and reject based on the Apache SpamAssassin" internal spam_score setting) outgoing_spam_scan_over_int (Scan outgoing messages for spam and reject based on defined Apache SpamAssassin" score) But I am unable to figure out; where I can found configuration file and how can I Enable these features: outgoing_spam_scan & outgoing_spam_scan_over_int Please help me and tell me the actual path of file for outgoing_spam_scan & outgoing_spam_scan_over_int As well how can I make these Enable? Thanks 0 -
@Alex_PQ - hey there! Those aren't configuration files but settings inside the WHM interface, which can only be accessed by the root user on the machine. I see your profile indicates you only have cPanel access, so you would not be able to change those settings. You can find more details on this options here: 0
