SPF Failed, Invalid HELO name
I've been sat awaiting an insurance document since Sunday, which never arrived.
So I had them send it to my Gmail account instead.
It arrived to my Gmail, and instantly I can see why it never arrived at my server.
Received-SPF: fail (google.com: domain of policyissue@xxxinsurance.com[/EMAIL] does not designate 83.231.xx.xx as permitted sender) client-ip=83.231.xx.xx;
Now I have the IP, I can search my logs and see...
2016-08-01 10:29:26 H=evw3301508-pip.eu.xxxxx.net (evw3301508) [83.231.xxx.xx]:60023 rejected MAIL : Access denied - Invalid HELO name (See RFC2821 4.1.1.1)
I'm guessing this is because my SPF is set to hard fail ???

I found this in EXIM config Require RFC-compliant HELO [?] Require incoming SMTP connections to send HELO conforming to internet standards (RFC2821 4.1.1.1) Which is set to ON. 0 -

Hello, Yes, the output in your initial message suggests this option is the reason for the failure. Thank you for updating us with the outcome.0 -
I've emailed the company in question informing them of their mis-configuration, whether or not they actually do anything remains to be seen. I can't imagine that I'm the only person been sat waiting for a policy document to arrive. 0
