Can I have a mailbox and forwarder with the same name?

Hi there everyone! I have an address that I use for all my forwarders(forwards@mydomain.com) and I would not only like to continue using it as a repository, I'd also like to forward any mail hitting that address to another mailbox (differentmail@differentdomain.com but same server) Can I create a forwarder for forwards@mydomain.com even though it has a mailbox or should I be handling this by way of filters(or something else)? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  You can. With it, you'll forward and accept the email into that inbox.

  If you forward from email-a to email-b, then i'm pretty sure that you'll end up with 2 copies. One in box-a, and a copy in box-b. You could try to create a filter rule. If to equals email-a redirect to email-b and discard message Although I think I tried this once and not entirely sure if it worked.
