Compression not working
Hello,
I am using WHM/cPanel for backups; however, having set these to be compressed in WHM backup options, only the account files result in account_file.tar.gz. The system files do not get compressed, it just creates an archive file eg. system_files.tar.
Any help appreciated..

Hey there! I would expect data created in both the "dirs" and "files" directories inside the backup to be compressed in gz format when the "compressed" option is on. Do you see anything helpful inside the backup log files located in /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup? I would expect that to show something related to this.
You can search that log for "Running dir & file backup with target" to find the portion when it starts working on the system backup.

Hi cPRex. On closer inspection you are right, the actual files "within" the system_files.tar are indeed compressed in gz format, it's simply the containing folder that is not. Having checked my history of backups it may be worth noting that files within the system_files.tar have always been compressed in gz regardless of the backup setting in WHM! Is this the expected default behaviour? Thanks.

I *think* that's correct from what I'm seeing on my own machine, but posting a screenshot of your directory structure might be best so I can confirm things.
