I bet your yum is broken. Can you install outstanding packages with "yum update" command then re-run the update?

Hey there!  There were issues with the AlmaLinux mirrors earlier today.  If you're still experiencing issues you may need to run the following workaround:

Yes, it worked after I executed the workaround command

    rpm --import https://repo.almalinux.org/almalinux/RPM-GPG-KEY-AlmaLinux

    Thank you.

I'm glad that's all it took!

Our CloudLinux 8 servers failed upcp last night, tonight no problems.

That happens with CloudLinux every now and then, usually the next day it's ok.

I have the same problem. I'm using the prepackaged AlmaLinux + cPanel/WHM instance on AWS Lightsail. After the instance is created and I ssh into it, it runs the installation script. I've tried this multiple times, and the result is the same:

"The installation process was unable to synchronize cPanel & WHM. Verify that your network can connect to httpupdate.cpanel.net and rerun the installer."

Rerunning the install script manually gives the same result. I can ping httpupdate.cpanel.net, so I am not sure what the problem is.

Does anyone have a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Old Geezer - are you able to run "yum update" on the system?

    I can run "yum update".

A secondary problem is that after repeated attempts, the install script exits with the following message:

"You must install cPanel & WHM on a clean server."

My only option is to delete the instance and start over.

We might need to see a ticket on this one, as this is one of those "it should just work" from what you're describing.

I've started preparing one. I just wanted to see if there was a quick fix here first.

Yes, it worked for me after I executed the workaround command

    rpm --import https://repo.almalinux.org/almalinux/RPM-GPG-KEY-AlmaLinux

But I had to do these steps several times:
    1. Create the instance in AWS Lightsail (cPanel AlmaLinux) and wait until it finishes the installation
    2. Execute the command above, then try to access your server (https://YourIP:2087)
    3. If it doesn't work, then run the cPanel installation command manually

    cd /home && curl -o latest -L https://securedownloads.cpanel.net/latest && sh latest

    4. Try to access your server, if it doesn't work, then execute the command above (rpm --import ...)

Finally it worked with me after doing all of that :)

My bad for not following up on this sooner. I did open a support ticket on this issue. The problem was diagnosed as a bug in the Lightsail blueprint for creating an AlmaLinux+cPanel+WHM instance. As referenced in Ahmed Hamdy's post above, the problem had to do with an error retrieving the GPG keys.

At the suggestion of the cPanel support analyst, I created a new Lightsail instance based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, manually installed cPanel/WHM, then SSH'd into the server and uploaded a full cPanel account backup. All is now well.
