I can log in with both the old password and the old password after changing the password

Why have I changed the user's password, but I can log in with the old password and the new password?

  What are you logging in to? cPanel (port 2083), WHM (port 2087), Webmail (port 2096), SSH (port 22) or something else? How long ago did the password get changed?

  cPanel password changes take affect instantly so there is not a way for a password to be cached on the cPanel side of things.  Do you have root access to the server?  If so, can you change the password through WHM to see if that gets things working how you expect?
