Hey there!  I'm not seeing any similar reports of this on my end - could you create a ticket with our team so we can investigate this?

    Hi CPRex

Has there been a fix or workaround for this bug/glitch where cPanel advisor suggests to downgrade the kernel?

We have been  receiving a similar notification when using a server at GCP.  We are on Ubuntu 22, using kernel 6.5.0-1023-gcp but advisor suggests "updating" it to 5.15.0-1064-72.amd64.

High Kernel The system kernel is at version “6.5.0-1023-gcp”, but an update is available: 5.15.0-1064-72.amd64 Update the system (run “apt -y upgrade” on the command line), and reboot the system.

    Thanks

I haven't heard anything more on my end since the original poster in this thread didn't reply, so I don't think we got a ticket.  Could you submit one so we can check that out?

I sent in the ticket# 95247524 for this issue back then and was told it's a known issue: https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/articles/14228817693847-Security-advisor-recommends-lower-kernel-version-for-some-Ubuntu-Kernels

Seems it's not going to be fixed but rather just to be ignored.

Thanks for sharing that - I did add this Forums conversation to that case.

I've had this issue for years. Is there a fix, or not?  The system kernel is at version “6.14.0-1018-aws”, but an update is available: 6.8.0-1051-54.amd64

Update the system (run “apt -y upgrade” on the command line), and reboot the system.

Peter Ayala - I opened case CPANEL-52293 just a couple weeks ago to get this issue resolved, as Security Advisor isn't properly detecting the AWS kernels on Ubuntu systems.  I've linked this thread to the case so I'll be sure to post an update once I have one.
