Elevate upgrade - NIC issue and Catch-22?
I am upgrading from Centos7.9 to Almalinux. In the check blockers output I am told that I need to upgrade from Cpanel 11.110.0.27 to 11.110.0.28. When I run the upgrade I get the following message from upuc:
W NOTE: A system upgrade was not possible due to the following blockers:
[2024-04-18 23:46:22 +0000] W [FATAL] - Newer releases of cPanel & WHM are not compatible with your operating system. Upgrade your OS, or use the Update Preferences screen to select a Long-Term Support release for use with your OS. cPanel & WHM 11.118.0.6 supports AlmaLinux 8/9, CloudLinux® 8/9, Rocky Linux™ 8/9, Ubuntu 20/22 only. Please see our OS End of Life policy for more information.
I also get the message
Your machine has multiple network interface cards (NICs) using kernel-names (ethX). Since the upgrade process cannot guarantee their stability after upgrade, you cannot upgrade.
But when I run ifconfig I get
[root@vps apache2]# ifconfig | grep eth[0-9]
eth0: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
So Im unclear how to get past these two blocks. Complete elevate block output follows:
/scripts/elevate-cpanel --check

Hey there! Is this in a Virtuozzo environment?
0 -
I'm not sure ... Ive never heard of that .... the provider markets themsevels as a Cpanel Partner.
0 -
It's VPS Hosting ... is that the same?

It's hard to say. In your specific situation it is unlikely ELevate is an option, but your provider would be able to confirm that for you.

thnks. Ill just start anew

That's likely the safest option in this case for sure.
