Is MySQL running? It says exactly this:

The system failed to connect a UNIX domain socket to “/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock” because of an error: Connection refused

Yes, it's running fine. Does that whole "\x{1}\x{0}/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock\x{0}\x{0}\x{0}\x{0}" bit look normal to you?

Can you let us know what work led to this log entry?

Nothing at all, just happened. I wasn't even on the server that day.

So this was an email notification, likely from CSF/LFD, correct?

If so, you'll want to examine the MySQL logs on the machine to see if there are other errors around that time.  Unfortunately, when I've seen these particular message in the past, it sometimes points to Innodb corruption.
