IOS 17.5 - Iphone IMAP-SSL Standard Auto Email config... SSL issues?
It seems that auto configuration of email accounts using IMAP SSL is no longer working... at least against my hosting server. It fails to autoconfigure. Unfortunately Apple goes directly into autoconfig... forces you to type everything in multiple times and let it fail... just to get to where it will let you manually configure the account. Then it eventually works. I don't mind doing this but it's well beyond the tolerance of most end users.
Some info I've found suggests that the reason it won't auto-config is a disagreement on SSL protocols and/or the certificate validity - at least in Apple's opinion.
Any input on this? Some way to determine if it is an SSL certificate disagreement causing the failure perhaps? I did see some tidbits around here about this but post-beta it looked like Apple had corrected for it (but that doesn't seem to be the case here).

Hey there! Does this sound like the same issue that's discussed here? https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/23331174805527
I'm guessing this also explains your other post as well, as the same tool gets used on Mac and iOS.

It's difficult to say if that's the issue but at least from the user end it appears to be different. The only similarity is that it's a failure to configure mail on an Apple device.
First, that post is for IOS 14... we're now up to 17.5. IOS auto-configuration to CPanel has worked in between those points.
Second, in the case I've cited, I am not using a configuration file as shown in that previous thread. I'm manually entering the email account name. On the iphone, you can enter (only) the email address and password and it assumes IMAP / SSL and standard server names. It then attempts the setup using those "standard" settings.
Along the way while I was hunting for answers, I found suggestions that the Iphone and Cpanel might be disagreeing on SSL protocols. But I'm having difficulty relocating that web page (still looking).
I have no idea what SSL protocol versions/specifics Apple uses in IOS 17 nor what Cpanel uses. That's a bit beyond my expertise. I was hoping you folks might have some insight as to whether they agree on SSL standards / revisions.

We don't have any special SSL protocols in place - it would be very odd we did something that wasn't compatible with email!
If you have steps on how to reproduce this could you create a ticket?

I'll work on a step by step with snapshots tomorrow to create a ticket. Are tickets private to you support folks? I don't like posting actual domains, etc in a public forum.

We definitely can't post public information, like domains or IP addresses, on the Forum. A support ticket created through WHM >> Create a Support Ticket is private.

Hmm... I don't see that feature in WHM. I'm a reseller on my hosting platform - is it possible the hosting firm customized that out of WHM? Is there some other way to start a ticket? Or perhaps I'm not looking in the right place for the option?

If you're a reseller you wouldn't have that level of access to the system - you'd need to speak with your hosting provider for direct support.

Well, they're useless :-) . Is there some way for you guys to create a ticket? My copy is certainly licensed through the reseller. I know I've had an open ticket at Cpanel recently on another host and it was a similar setup where we were just purchasing hosting from another firm. I thought I was able to do it through the web site, but perhaps I am mistaken.
Meanwhile, I'll work on the screen shots and just mask the specifics for now.

We changed our ticket policy last year to only allow direct license holders to open tickets, so I don't have a way to do that for you at this time.

Ah, I see. That would be it!
I'll get some more data to you on reproducing this.
