Questions Regarding Upgrade to AlmaLinux 8
AnsweredWe have an environment with 3 servers based on CentOS 7, two of which use the WHM DNS Only platform (primary DNS and secondary DNS) and one general WHM where different domains are hosted.
We are about to start the upgrade (Elevate) to AlmaLinux 8, and we have a few questions:
1. If we start with DNS 2, would there be any issues if this machine is on a higher version than DNS 1 or the general WHM?
2. Given the large volume of information we have in the /home directory of the general WHM with the cPanel domain accounts, will there be data migration during the process?

Hey there! For question 1, no, that doesn't matter at all - the DNS cluster doesn't care about the versions.
When you use ELevate the data on the server doesn't move as only the OS and related tools are updated. Is that what you're looking to find out?

Great, thanks for the response cPRex, that's what we understood from the documentation, but we wanted to be sure before taking the step.

Hey there,
I saw this thread and thought it might be better to ask here than open my own thread as there appears to be a long list of threads relating to Centos7 to AlmaLinux8 and similiar.
I too have the same configuration, a single cPanel server as the master server and then two DNS Only servers in a cluster hosted remotely. If I use Elevate to upgrade the master, does it matter if the DNS Only servers are left on Centos 7?
