Upgrade from Centos 7 Query
Hello,
We have 1 dedicated server running WHM / cPanel that we need to upgrade from Centos 7 in order for WHM to continue to be supported.
All the guides I can find are suggesting migrating from existing to a new server but our client is tied into an agreement with their dedicated server and is unable to purchase a new one to replace it without being billed for both. So what is the process to backup the WHM data (Backed up via Acronis) wipe the dedicated server, install the new OS that is supported and then restore the WHM data. The OS install we can sort out but we are not sure what data needs to be restored and in what order etc. It would be great to have a utility in cpanel that does a full data backup, then we could do a full server restore to different OS to mitigate the risk to the hardware failing.
We may be able to bolt on an acronis license to fire it up in a VM to get live access to the data in a contained environment if that would help. But the IPs and source server really need to stay the same due to the contract on them by the hosting provider.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Hey there! Is your system not able to take advantage of ELevate to update the current machine?
https://cpanel.github.io/elevate/
That sounds like it would be the perfect path forward for this user.
