Cpanel 120 - Filemanager & phpMyadmin doesn't open new tab
AnsweredHi, I've searched this in this forum & google but could not find any similar topics. I just want to know if anyone else running cPanel 120.0.11 having the same issue with me.
The issues:
Normally, for years, inside cPanel, when I clicked on the File Manager or phpMyadmin button/link, it will open these pages on a new browser tab. But recently, when i do the same action, they're opening in the same page. This is causing navigation when users already get used to opens then the normal way had to use right click > open new tab.
I have reported this to my hosting provider , but they said that it is coming from the cPanel latest updates, and all users has to adapt to it. Is this true??
Weirdly, I got few other cpanel accounts running the exact same version on different providers, but they're still working as the normal behaviour (opens new tab by default).
Anyone else having similar issues recently? And is it really caused by the cPanel updates? And is there any config that I could do to revert to the old behaviour?
Thanks

Tested this in a few servers running 120.0.11, and Filemanager and phpMyAdmin opens in new tab.
I was using Vivaldi browser.

if someone from cpanel can confirm this, then i'll let my provider to fix it. Since they claimed its not their fault, but cpanel updates causing it...

I've got two servers running 120.0.12 and having this same issue. One is on Cloudlinux 8, the other is AlmaLinux 8. I thought I was losing my mind at first. File Explorer at least you can navigate back to the cPanel interface via the logo, but phpMyAdmin you're stuck either hitting back (not always an option when you're digging through pages and pages of database data) or logging back in.
For now, I have to retrain myself to middle click instead of left click for File Explorer and phpMyAdmin. As of this comment that is working to open them in new tabs. (This is assuming that clicking the wheel is bound to the Open in New Tab action, which is default in most browsers. Also assuming your mouse has a scrollwheel.)0 -
Hi,
We've recently reported this issue to our developers in internal case CPANEL-45698. This issue appears to have been introduced in cPanel version 120. You can follow the article below to receive an update when a fix is published:
PHPMyAdmin and File Manager no longer open a new window in v120
