MariaDB not properly supported by cPanel!
I don't really know what goes on at cPanel. I don't know what the levels of awareness of the perception of software and markets is. I can deduce that there is zero concept that MySQL has long not been viable thanks to the super trustworthy Oracle CORPORATION whose CEO apparently called down a satellite based directed energy weapon to destroy half of a Hawaiian island a few months ago.
I only just finally was "allowed" to upgrade to MariaDB 10.10 or higher (10.11) a month ago which was released on June 23rd, 2022! Two years to wait for collation support greater than Unicode 5.2 released in October 2009! Yes, part of the blame is on the MariaDB team for letting Unicode stagnate for so long. But two years to be "allowed" to update MariaDB?!
MariaDB 11.0 was released on December 27 2022 and is also still not available. Hell, 11.4 LTS was released on December 24th, 2023 and I haven't seen any indication that cPanel is even paying any attention to MariaDB releases.
What is going on at cPanel?! Is there not an internal mechanism to ensure that software versions are checked once every month or couple weeks to ensure the systems are up to date?

Hey there! In version 122, MariaDB will be the default for new cPanel installations. You can see this on our roadmap here:
https://features.cpanel.net/c/52-mariadb-is-default-db-for-new-cpanel-installs
and we also have some additional details on our blog:
https://cpanel.net/blog/announcements/mariadb-server-to-become-default-database-in-cpanel/
In Q4 of this year, we'll release 11.4.

Fastest response ever on here, thank you Rex. That is fantastic news, thank you for sharing. It'll be nice to get 11.4 before the end of this year.
