My server was re-imaged. Should I restore using full server backup or using account backup?
I did something really dumb and crashed my Alma Linux server so badly that my ISP had to re-image my server. When the re-imaging process is done I will have root access via SSH, sFTP and WHM.
I have never done any kind of ‘restore’ before so this is new to me.
The 2 most recent backups I have on my PC are:
July 18 account backup made using cPanel
July 26 full server backup made using WHM
There is only one account: mapping1
The July 26 server backup includes a file mapping1.tar.gz
After the server re-imaging process is done, what should I do next?
Can I restore using the July 26 file mapping1.tar.gz file or do I need to use the July 18 account backup file?
Does restoring the account also restore things like SSL certificates and DNS settings?

Hey there! After the reimage is complete:
-install cPanel on the server
-restore that July 26 backupThat's really all that should need to happen!

I completed the process to restore my account and everything is working fine. In case it helps anyone, here is what I did.
After bluehost re-imaged my server and provided a temporary password I logged onto bluehost and changed the password.
Connected with filezilla using port 22
Uploaded my account backup {username}.tar.gz to /home
The name must be in this format. {account name}.tar.gzWHM > Transfer or Restore
Enter file name with the account backup and restore it.Then I checked the following settings and tweaked them to what I had been using previously
WHM > Backup schedule
WHM > multi-php. Set php versions and PHP-FPM
WHM > php.ini
One of the settings I tweaked: Options - Index. Uncheck. This prevents people from listing directory contents0 -
That's the way to do it!
