8GB Cache File in tmp/ssl/analog/accountname.com

Hello,

I have found a cache file in the directory

"tmp/analog/ssl/accountname.com"

the file is 8gb in size and was last edited yesterday.

Can I safely delete this/remove it's contents as I am needing to do a database migration and would like to avoid any unnecessary large files that could slow it down.

  Hey there!  This is the area where the Analog stats software keeps its data.  If you no longer need that information or if you'd like to reset it you can clear that data.  If you don't need Analog stats to process statistics at all, you can control that from WHM >> Tweak Settings under the "Stats Programs" section.

  Over here the cache file in the tmp/analog/SSL directory found in the backup tarball had blown up to over 300 mb, the other files (including the non-SSL cache file) were nowhere near that size. Deleting the cache file alone seems to have preserved our valuable historical data as the regenerated file is now under 10 mb in size.
  From this one might suppose the cache file is a work file for the stats collection software, there might be differences in how the program functions over various servers and systems, thus @cPRex's answer is valid as well. Analog Stats is a closed source engine dating back to the early 2000s - has it ever been updated? The documentation does not touch on the role of various components, as presumably no-one back in the day could have imagined anything going wrong with it.

  Ehm, the historical data referred to above has now gone from cPanel view, - must have been retained a while by LiteSpeed it seems. Still have a backup copy of the original ~300 mb cache file, headed like:

  CACHE type 5 produced by analog 6.0/Unix. Do not modify or delete!

  The rest of the data is comprised of data as ASCII text using a numerical coding for dates and display, (N++ encodes it to UTF-8 by default). Waiting for the day Analog Stats becomes open house.

  The current SSL cache file is now 64mb, and that takes us back to February, around 4.5 months. Expect around 15mb added on per month then. :)
