Can't readd a subdomain i just removed
Hi.
let's assume i have a domain example.com configured for user example
it had a subdomain 3.example.com
and also files.3.example.com
i removed 3.example.com and left the files.3.example.com "as is"
i created a new account for 3.example.com witht username example2 (names changed)
i now removed the domain files.3.example.com from the user example
and i readded it back to the same user, example
now it says cannot locate the domain and it added me f.3.example.com instead
now i removed f.3.example.com and added files.3.example.com to the other user, example2
it now says can't add because it is already there. and it refers to /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Admin/Modules/Cpanel/subdomain.pm line 176.
so how can i solve this?
What i want is:
example user would have example.com and files.3.example.com
example2 user would have 3.example.com and possibly its subdomains in the future.
My cPanel and WH version is 120.0.16
Thank you.

Hey there! I followed your steps exactly and also got the same error when I went to remove the "files" subdomain:
Error: (XID zaa9tu) The domain “files.3.3.example.com” does not belong to “example”.
This is happening because the new account, the separate 3.example.com, now has the userdata entries for that subdomain.
This seems like it's an issue with how the domains are handling ownership. I would expect that it shouldn't have let you remove the 3.example.com as long as files.3.example.com exists.
I've created case CPANEL-45809 for developers to review this, but I don't have a good workaround at this time. We would likely need you to submit a ticket so we could manually modify userdata files in order to resolve this.
