Syslog check failed

LFD keeps sending me these messages every hour or so.

Time:  Thu Aug 22 17:43:52 2024 -0400
Error: Failed to detect code [nRbKV3xlSZE2VCdxL] in SYSLOG_LOG [/var/log/messages]

I have read through the other posts talking about this error but they all seem to refer to var/log/messages which I do not see anywhere in the var/log directory.

Is this a simple matter of creating a blank file named /var/log/messages or is there something else I would need to do as well?

  What is the output of:
  systemctl status rsyslog
  in root terminal?

  What is your server's operating system?

  Doing systemctl status rsyslog

  tells me:

  Unit rsyslog.service could not be found.
