Inquiry regarding backup and restoration
Hello,
I would like to know how to easy and quickly can I restore incremental backup from remote location?
Breakdown:
We have bought 10TB Hetzner Storage Box, and we are planing to store backups of 130 accounts there: 6 days incremental, 3x15 days ones, 3x1st of the month, and once a week (sunday) compressed ones. Compressed ones are also downloaded to our offices.
Hypothetically, if I were to use rsync additional destination in backup configuration to move backups to Hetzner Storage Box, how can I restore it when I need it? Do I have to use rsync again and move all incremental data back from Hetzner Storage Box to my server, put them in corresponding folders and paths, and then use backup restoration tool in WHM, chose what date to restore and do it?
I am talking about 5TB of data spanned across 130 accounts. Some of accounts are 2GB, and some are 600GB. Sometimes I need to restore couple of emails, sometimes whole account, sometimes database. It would be time consuming to rsync 100-200GB of backup back to server just to restore database.
Any input or shortcuts would be grateful.
Hetzner Storage Box supports these:
Access with FTP/FTPS
Access with SAMBA/CIFS
Access with SFTP/SCP
Access with SSH/rsync/BorgBackup
Access with WebDAV
By the way, I saw that JetBackup offers backup to Hetzner StorageBox, do they offer restoration too? I can't find in their documentation anything that states so.
Thanks,
Nermin

Hey there! We have a guide about restoring remote backups if they are configured with the FTP service:
but as it says, if you're using something else you'll need to manually rsync and then perform the restore. It would likely be best to test the speed of the download by moving a larger account to see how the system performs, as there isn't going to be any other way to know for sure how long it will take.
For JetBackup, yes, you can restore from the remote destination directly and even filter the restore options by Destination location, as outlined halfway down the page here:
