Cent OS 7 to Almalinux elevate process failed during stage 2 due to boot process control
The elevate script is failing with the following message:
The elevation process failed during stage 2.
Specifically, the script could not prove that the system has control over its
own boot process using the utilities the operating system provides.
For this reason, the elevation process has terminated before making any
irreversible changes. Before you can run the elevation process, you must provide for the ability for
the system to manipulate its own boot process. Then you can start the elevation
process anew.
Any suggestions on how to proceed from here will be appreciated.
Thanks.

uhm thats new. I have never seen this error yet. How is your grub config? do you use UEFI? What kernel you are on currently?

Thanks for responding, have been away for a bit.
Which grub config info would you like? No, using BIOS, the current kernel is
3.10.0-1160.45.1.el7.x86_64

I reduced my kernels to the one in use and then ran elevate again, this is the current error:
The elevation process failed during stage 2.
Specifically, the script could not prove that the system has control over its
own boot process using the utilities the operating system provides.
For this reason, the elevation process has terminated before making any
irreversible changes.0 -
Is this server hosted at OVH or Kimsufi or Server4you? Do you have in their panel the local boot option selected? It seems that the server is not booting from the kernels installed on the server as per the error.

Thanks for responding Andrew.
No, it's hosted at Leaseweb.
We don't have the local boot option selected, any suggestions as to setting the server to boot from the kernels installed on the server?

I'm not sure why this is happening I would need to have a closer look to advise further, maybe the guys at cPanel will have some further advise, they are monitoring this forum and probably reply soon.

Hi,
i`m facing the same issue. Any update how this cloud be fixed.0 -
sumi21kav - for issues with the ELevate process it is best to create a ticket so the server can be examined directly. I'd hate to recommend something over the Forums without seeing the machine that could potentially lead to accidental data loss.

cPRex yeah that was my first choice BUT our cPanel/WHM license is not directly with webpros/cpanel but over Hetzner who do not offer support for software related issues and we are unable to open ticket with cPanel directly. This is BIG disappointment how in the past we ware able to open support tickets nomater where the license was from, now with constantly increasing prices that ware justified with investment in better products and support and are left with no support.
that why i`m truing to find solutions but still no success.0 -
You could always join our ELevate channel in our Discord as well:
as other users and developers hang out there and may be able to help with issues.
If one of your systems had a trial license you'd be able to reach out to us for support, as our team would like to see issues with ELevate if possible.
