Request: Show when an account no longer needs to be proxied after using the Transfer Tool
I really like WHM's transfer tool and how it auto-proxies (relays) traffic from the old server to the new server until it's no longer needed, i.e. when the IP addresses of the transferred domain have been updated.
https://docs.cpanel.net/whm/transfers/transfer-tool/
Information about which accounts are being proxied, and which aren't, is a bit scarce IMHO in WHM.
If you look at the list of Suspended Accounts, then in the 2nd column from the left you'll see which accounts have the option to 'Retain Service Proxying'. Other than that, I don't think there's any other page in WHM that lists accounts that are being proxied? I'd like to see something less subtle than this.
Also, what would be REALLY COOL (helpful!) would be a lookup to an external DNS (e.g. Google) that shows the public IP address of each proxied account. This would give clear indication of which domains have had their IP updated, and therefore can be safely terminated. (the fly in the appointment would be Cloudflare DNS, where the true IP is obscured).

Hey hey! So ideally, you're looking for a more obvious indicator that just the "suspended accounts" page - potentially something in List Accounts?

Yes, any additional exposure, direct (e.g. own dedicated page) or highlighting/flagging on existing pages ,would be an improvement.
Additionally, I like the ability to toggle the proxying on/off if that's do-able.
Why?
To quickly test whether or not the IP address of a domain has indeed been changed to the IP of the account it's been transferred to.
But surely a simple ping/lookup will do this?
Yes, but not if the DNS for the domain is Cloudflare or similar!
Yesterday I had this issue where a client advised that their IT guy had changed the IP address of the domain as I'd requested them too. But I couldn't check this for myself (because Cloudflare was the DNS provider), I just took their word for it. So I terminated the account on the old server. But then their site went down, because clearly they hadn't changed the IP after all. So then I have to run around restoring accounts from backups, etc.
Therefore being able to toggle on/off the proxying would have been a great help in this example... unless there's a better way to validate when Cloudfare (or similar) IP has been updated?0 -
It makes sense to me! I've submitted a request to our team and I'll be sure that gets reviewed.
