Disable Pruning of Remote Backups
Hi there,
We use WHM's built in backup configuration tool to send backups to an S3 Compatible Remote destination. Works great - with one major problem: We don't actually want WHM to delete/prune anything. Remote storage is cheap, and we'd like to retain those backups indefinitely.
It seems that local and remote backups must follow the same retention policy.
Is there any way to retain the last, say 3 backups locally, but have cPanel NOT prune any backups?
For reference, we accomplished this when using Amazon's S3 backup by using a custom IAM policy that gave the associated account the ability to WRITE to the buckets, but not delete. So WHM is constantly trying to prune backups, but can't.
We are looking at switching to a different S3-compatible backup solution. However, that one treats WRITE and DELETE as a single permission, and there's no way to give the account the ability to write backups but not prune them.
Am I missing something? Any suggestions?

Hey there! Unfortunately I don't have a a way to adjust the remote vs local pruning options. If you used a tool like JetBackup for your backups, they have more advanced options like this.
If you'd like to see this directly in cPanel, could you submit a feature request over at features.cpanel.net with all the details? If you can't, I'd be happy to submit that for you!
