Server dns
-
Hey there! Creating your own nameservers involves the following steps:
In cPanel:
-Pick the subdomain you want to use. Most people pick ns1 and ns2.mydomain.com
-Create A records for the subdomain so it responds in the DNS system
-Go to WHM >> Basic WebHost Manager Setup and enter those nameservers at the bottom of the page. This ensures that all DNS zones you create in the future have the correct nameservers in placeAt your registrar:
-Register the nameservers. This is a free service provided by your registrar, but has to be done before the nameservers will work.
After you complete those steps and allow for a bit of propagation time I would expect things to work well!

hello, thank you for your answer. I have already seen this tutorial but it does not work.
even with the dns that are there originally when creating the whm it does not work.
cordially0 -
Can you let me know exactly what error you're getting? Could you send a screenshot of the WHM page where the problem happens?
0 -
the problem occurs at the registrar.
i enter all the original ones or the personal ones it tells me that the server is not responding0 -
Is port 53 open for both inbound and outbound traffic on your server? That would be the only reason that the DNS service wouldn't respond that I can think of.

hello I just did "WHM » Home » Security Center » Host Access Control" open port 53 and tested 15 minutes later but nothing changes.
in the dns of a domain name I put ns1.mydomain.com the ip and 2 the other ip yesterday but still the same.-1 -
Host Access Control wouldn't be what determines if the port is open - it would only determine who can access it.
Can you run this test from another computer outside of your server?
telnet x.x.x.x 53
where "x.x.x.x" is your server's IP address? That will tell us if that connection is open.

nothing starts I don't understand.
can I send you my ip in private?0 -
If you need to send us an IP address it would be best to open a ticket so we can check the system.
0 -
I have already opened a ticket and was told to come to the forum
0 -
That ticket must not have been through us then I'm guessing?

Can you run this command on the server and post the results?
netstat -lpn | grep ":53"
0 -
here is the result
[root@ns523180 ~]# netstat -lpn | grep ":53"
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:53 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 215620/pdns_server
tcp6 0 0 :::53 :::* LISTEN 215620/pdns_server
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:53 0.0.0.0:* 215620/pdns_server
udp6 0 0 :::53 :::* 215620/pdns_server0 -
Great - so that indicates the service is running properly on the local system.
Were you able to try that external telnet test? That has to be run from outside the server on a separate machine, and that test tells us if people can connect to port 53, which is what is used for the DNS service.

No I'm not afraid to throw

if you can access the ticket here is the number where there is the server ip.

Thanks for that information - I don't see any issues with the DNS or network at this time.
What is the specific error that the registrar is telling you? Can you contact them to get more details on the problem?
0 -
This indicates that the registrar refuses the sending because the network does not respond
0 -
I'm not seeing any issues with the network on my end. You'll need to get more specific details from the registrar about what isn't responding before we can do additional troubleshooting.

You have requested a DNS change, from your customer area, for the domain name *************, to define the following DNS servers:
REDACTED
Unfortunately the DNS change operation was refused by the registry. An error has occurred. This can happen if the DNS server addresses are considered invalid. You can check the following points before making the change request again from your customer area:
you must have at least two different DNS servers
the DNS server names must resolve to different IP addresses
ideally a DNS zone must already exist on the desired DNS servers (necessary for certain domain extensions)0 -
Thanks for that - I'm not seeing any issue with those nameservers on my end. Can you speak to your registrar's support team?
0 -
For them the problem comes from whm

There is nothing we can do on our end to fix this with the information we have.

hello, I just thought about it, is there a way to know these dns?
if it happens I don't have the right ones.0 -
Hello, this is what I get now. Is there a way to put it back? Thanks in advance
0 -
Hello, thank you for your answer.
I have already seen this tutorial, I have already done it and have just done it again and it does not change anything.
Sincerely0 -
Hello, is there anything else besides powerdns that I can test?
From what I see on the internet cloudlinux does not work with it.
All I need is the dns server to get started.
Sincerely0 -
I really don't believe we're going to be able to solve this over the Forums at this point.
What is causing you to believe the DNS service isn't running? We already tested port 53 and you confirmed the service is running with earlier commands.

I have tested several registrars but still the same.
and in whm I have the dns in different orders.
is there a way to find the right ones?0
