Removing VirtFS with clear_orphaned_virtfs_mounts --clearall
Folks,
I created some /home/virtfs folders when I originally migrated accounts to new server. I changed all accounts to standard shell and activated CloudLinux CageFS after.
I can't seem to get the recommended script to work:
/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/clear_orphaned_virtfs_mounts --clearall
[root@host4 virtfs]# /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/clear_orphaned_virtfs_mounts --clearall
[root@host4 virtfs]# ls -la /home/virtfs
total 12
drwx--x--x 12 root root 202 Nov 6 02:37 .
drwxr-xr-x. 92 root root 4096 Dec 9 13:33 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 530 Sep 22 21:23 0_README_BEFORE_DELETING_VIRTFS
drwx--x--x 9 root xxxxx 168 Nov 1 17:12 xxxxx
drwx------ 2 root root 6 Nov 6 02:37 _lock
drwx--x--x 9 root xxxxx 168 Oct 31 21:45 xxxxx
[root@host4 virtfs]# ls -la /home/virtfs/_lock
total 0
drwx------ 2 root root 6 Nov 6 02:37 .
drwx--x--x 12 root root 202 Nov 6 02:37 ..
They have obsolete values in their /etc/resolv.conf files and I wanted to make sure they did not get used.
Thanks,
Jim

Hey there! Can you be a bit more specific about how the script isn't working, and what relation to resolv.conf you're seeing? You're never going to be able to *completely* remove the virtfs system.

cPRex,
I was expecting script to delete username folders under /home/virtfs/

That script would only delete users that either don't exist, or no longer use jailshell on the machine. if that's the case I would expect the script to remove them, and if that isn't happening we'd need to see a ticket to investigate your specific machine. However, there are things that can recreate these files at any time, like Exim filters or cron jobs. A full list with more details on that can be found here: https://docs.cpanel.net/knowledge-base/accounts/virtfs-jailed-shell/#disable-or-remove-a-jailed-shell-environment
