New email address - invitation link issue
Hi cpanel friends,
I can create an email account using the cpanel interface, I add an 'alternate' email address and that email address receives the welcome to your new account message, with a password reset link.
When we click on the link and it opens up a cpanel web page to generate a password for the email account. When we do this and submit, we receive the following error;
The system failed to update your account’s password. Additional information may exist in the server error log. Contact your server account provider, server administrator, or hosting provider.
Checking the logs I discovered the following;
usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log
warn [resetpass] The system failed to change the password for the user: Cpanel::Exception::AdminBinError/(XID 9j4a4r) Parent check method: /usr/local/cpanel/cpanel,/usr/local/cpanel/uapi,/usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/bin/xml-api,/usr/local/cpanel/libexec/queueprocd,/usr/local/cpanel/cpsrvd,/usr/local/cpanel/cpanel-email,/usr/local/cpanel/bin/update_quota_cache,/usr/local/cpanel/base/backend/elfinder_connector.cgi, caller: /usr/local/cpanel/base/resetpass.cgi is not allowed at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/AdminBin/Call.pm line 218.
Has anyone else encountered this fault? I've never seen it before and it's left me a little bewildered- the faults not limited to one cpanel account, but all cpanel accounts on this particular server. Any guidance or recommendations would be sincerely appreciated.

Hey there! I am familiar with the welcome message for new email accounts, but I don't see a password reset link in that message. Could you share a screenshot of the message where you're seeing this link on your end so I can see that as well?
Could you also share the link it takes you to in cPanel?

I'll happily create an email address under a test account and put your own address as the alternative so you can see first hand, if it helps?

I suppose that's one option, but we'd need to see this on a the server to know why it is happening. It might be best to submit a ticket so this can be investigated directly on the system.
