The cPanel license server replied that the license has been activated on too many machines (600)
Tonight, we restarted our server to roll back a minor update. Immediately after, our entire server was locked out by cPanel with the following error:
"The cPanel license server replied that the license has been activated on too many machines (600). Please contact billing@cpanel.net."
This is ridiculous—we've only ever activated our license on ONE machine. Even worse, we attempted to fix this immediately by purchasing a new license. The system still rejected it, leaving us stuck overnight.
Due to cPanel's lack of 24/7 priority licensing support, we've now experienced over 16 hours of downtime. We've lost sales, missed deadlines, and disappointed our customers, all because of a false license error and no available support.
We're publicly asking cPanel to:
-
Immediately fix this false licensing issue.
-
Refund the unnecessary second license we were forced to buy.
-
Provide real 24/7 support for critical licensing failures.
This shouldn't happen to paying customers. If you're running cPanel, be aware: a single license error can bring your whole operation down, and you might have no choice but to wait until the next business day for help.
We deserve better.

Hey there! There isn't anything I can do over the Forum for a license issue. You'll have to submit a ticket or reach out to our customer service team at cs@cpanel.net so they can check the license problem.
