Hostname reset in Rocky Linux 8 and 9
Hi Folks
We set the hostname by:
sudo hostnamectl set-hostname server.domain.com
And after reboot its get resetted to just "server".
We tried modifying /etc/hostname
We tried with cloud init config file, cloud-init preserve_hostname: true
We tried many many things...
I am afraid if we keep "hacking" in the configuration files it may interfere and get the license locked.
The only thing that works out of the box is Ubuntu, but that would mean support just to 2027....And i cant see support for Ubuntu 24 anywhere.
And since all our business is in Google Cloud our only options are Rocky and Ubuntu, a little help over here we starting to lose all hope on this one...
EDITED:
I might add that we currently have our business in a 118 version with ubuntu 20, and we need to migrate asap, so we were thinking about rocky 9... we have a license ready to go but, if the hostname changes after reboot, it surely get locked, so we havent even began the installation..

Hey there! Is there a reason that you can't use the WHM >> Change Hostname tool? Is that not working?
We are planning to release Ubuntu 24 support this year - hopefully that happens in Q2 but I don't have a definitive ETA just yet.
