Disabling Vulnerability protection enabled without my permission
Yet another of those for-profit options I found hidden within my WHM, this time in the WP Toolkit section, called "Vulnerability protection premium."
1. Did I give permission to include a link by a 3rd party for-profit company to link out to their website?
2. Is there no easy option to "opt-out" of 3rd party links in WHM?
3. If a person buys this 3rd party service without my permission, do I get notified of the transaction?
4. What if a client needs support for this paid service with cPanel? Is cPanel now providing direct service and support to my customers?
Now before you say, "You're just a hater, Jim!" well, seriously, this is my business.
I don't work for cPanel, Inc. My customers should not be "given the opportunity to buy services" through any 3rd parties without my permission—this seems rather dismissive of paying cPanel customers (to say the least).
I have no issue with cPanel improving its services to benefit its paying customers. That's awesome! Soliciting their customers, paying customers without permission, or not pre-announcing a clear revenue share agreement for new services is, well, an altogether different matter, I think you'll agree.

Hey there! I'm looking into all of this now and I'll let you know what I find out as soon as I have the information.

Hey there! I'll go through and answer these in order to make sure I don't miss anything.
1 - cPanel has been promoting server-level addons in the WHM interface for a long time, such as JetBackup, Imunify360, CloudLinux, Litespeed, and others. If you have a specific legal question you'll have to contact legal@cpanel.net for more information.
2 - Through Manage2 you can control the promotions that appear in WHM under the Company Profile page within the Sales Option section. You can also customize the links so you can resell the various products through your own store. These settings will apply to all of your cPanel servers. Changes in Manage2 can take a few minutes to sync across your servers. For the Vulnerability Protection banner in WHM -> WP Toolkit, you can run the following command to sync the configuration immediately:
sudo -u wp-toolkit /usr/bin/sw-engine -d auto_prepend_file=/usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/wp-toolkit/scripts/scheduled-task-prepend-file.php /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/wp-toolkit/plib/scripts/maintenance.php
3 - If you create a custom link to handle this, then yes. If the customer buys it directly through the cPanel Store you would not receive any notification that transaction happened.
4 - This wouldn't be handled differently than any other tool or feature that gets added to the cPanel interface. If your team isn't able to resolve a problem that comes up just let us know and we can help!
I believe Gilbert will also be sending you a follow-up with similar details, but you can always reach out through the Partner channels as well as that could get you a quicker answer than the Forums.
