    Correct - at this point the core issue is resolved so there is no need to have a version lock in place.

    I can support that - I removed the version lock, ran a bunch of updates, including MySQL 8.4.5 again, and rebooted.

    There were some tense minutes - when the server came back I was again seeing the dreaded database connection screen. So next I reset the root password (not sure whether that was necessary). Still bad. I was on the brink of rolling back the changes for a second time, when after about five minutes the service seemed to recover and came back online. So sit, tight and give it some time, but all looks good now.

    Yeah, those few minutes of services loading during the reboot are always a "fun" time
