MariaDB 11.4 upgrade and compatibility
AnsweredI'm planning to upgrade MariaDB from version 10.6 to 11.4 and I'm concerned about possible compatibility issues, especially with older websites running PHP 5 or 7, but even modern sites could potentially break. Has anyone gone through this upgrade on a cPanel server?
I'd appreciate feedback on any problems you encountered or compatibility issues you faced with legacy PHP applications or even recent ones. Did you run into issues with SQL modes, character sets, deprecated features, or connection problems with older PHP MySQL clients?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

Hey there! Many users have performed this update, but it's really impossible for anyone to say if it will work well for your situation or not. The only "official" answer on that I can provide is to have a professional database administrator examine your system and check for compatibility issues, but other users may be able to offer more specific details from their personal experiences.

Hi @cpanzy, I ended up upgrading to 10.11 for now, and everything went flawlessly.

Thanks for your comment. After a few more months, did you finally update to 11.4? I'm in the same boat, still on 10.6 with many clients using older versions. I'm wondering if 11.4 will run smoothly or if I should play it safe with 10.11.

Hi Benito: we finally updated to 10.11 without any issues. We will update to 11.4 later this year.
