Upgrade MariaDB

We are having difficulty in starting database server so we want to upgrade MariaDB via Cpanel.

The system was unable to authenticate using the password in the /root/.my.cnf file. Reset the root MySQL password to proceed.

  Hey there!  Upgrading while there are other issues happening seems like a bad idea as that could lead to data loss.  What specific issues were you having with the database server?
