Issue with "Transfer from Remote cPanel Account" – Error 255 and Token Parsing Failure
Hello everyone,
I’m facing the following situation:
I need to migrate approximately 50 cPanel accounts from an external WHM server (version 126.0.16) to my local WHM server, which is also running version 126.0.16.
However, I do not have root access to the source server — I only have the cPanel login credentials for each account.
On my WHM, I do have root access, and I’m attempting to use the “Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account” feature.
When selecting “Transfer from remote cPanel account” under Transfer Options, I get the following error:
Account “Account”: Error while executing “/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/getremotecpmove”. The “/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/getremotecpmove 'Server IP' 'Account'” command (process 3607657) reported error number 255 when it ended: Failed to establish session and parse security token: 200 OK at /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/perl/536/cpanel-lib/cPanel/PublicAPI.pm line 526.
I’d like to understand the cause of this error.
Does the source WHM server need to have a specific setting enabled to allow this type of transfer? Or could the issue be with my WHM configuration?
I decided to reach out to the community before opening a ticket directly with cPanel support.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Best regards,

Hey there! The issue is almost certainly with the remote system and not your local server. You would need to make sure that the IP of your destination machine is able to reach the IP of the source server over ports 2083 and 2087. The most likely explanation is the firewall of the remote machine is not allowing your connection.

Good morning!
Thanks for your reply.
So I thought about it, I requested the release of my server's IP to the destination server.
In theory, it is released!
Performing a telnet return of the ports. Is there any other test I can perform to validate this release?

Telnet is also the test I would choose. Are you still not able to connect for the transfer?

Unfortunately not!
The error still persists.
Is there any other test I can perform to validate whether the connection is being made?

There isn't anything else you can do from your end, as telnet proves you are at least able to make the connection to the required ports.
You may want to reach out to the admin of the Destination machine to see if they can check the logs on their end and adjust something for you.
