Enable outbound email sending over IPv6

Hello,

I’ve searched through several topics in the forum but couldn’t find a clear solution regarding outbound email sending over IPv6 in cPanel.

 

Is there a way to configure cPanel to send emails via IPv6 automatically? Specifically, I would like to assign a dedicated IPv6 address per domain, and have cPanel use that IPv6 for outgoing email.

 

How can I configure cPanel/Exim to use a domain-specific IPv6 address for outbound email delivery?

    OMG. Patched to prefer ipv4?

    Never had thought that from CP in these days. CP is falling behind with ipv6 on multiple places, might be good to start some work on that soon.

    Also wondering why my post needs approval, been a member for years.

    Completely agree. The fact that there's no native way to automatically enable IPv6 for new accounts is crazy.
    cPanel is the only software I know that intentionally prefers IPv4 over IPv6.
    You can't even run cPanel without IPv4.

    IPv6 support was "only" introduced in cPanel 12 years ago...

    Thank you I've read it.

    But compared to the competition I was used cPanel was almost always in front.

    Now with ipv6 they are behind. DA already has ipv6 SNI for several years, and if ipv6 is present that both apache and exim work with ipv6 first with fallback to ipv4 if required.

    I presume you might remember some of my post from 5 months ago about the ipv6 SPF records where I was pointed out I had to watch out because Exim did not send via ipv6 by default with cPanel.
    And around the same time an issue getting my ns2 on ipv6 visible. Which I had to fix completely without any support of cPanel (bought license via Hetzner) or Hetzner. This had been a fuzz for me, and also something which is no issue at all with DA.

    cPanel has always been great with development. But seems like since Oakly took over, things are starting to slow down and only get more expensive. Which is pity.
    Especially from cPanel I had expected that by now ipv6 would be working in full. Especially because it alread does for several years with the competition (even some free panels).
    Hence is why I'm wondering why it looks as if something important like this is slowing down with only last year finished some  prefix fix rahter late. What is done between 2017 and 2024?
    Not very much if I read the blog correctly, and still not finished compared to the competition.

    I think, just as others, I expected more from cPanel, compared how cPanel did in the past before 2018.
