WHM / root password not working after using Transfer tool
AnsweredHello,
I’m encountering an issue after using the WHM Transfer Tool to migrate hosting packages and cPanel/WHM configurations from the old server to the new one.
Once the transfer was complete, I was logged out of WHM. Now, when I try to log in again as root, the WHM login page displays: "The login is invalid." Additionally, when I attempt to connect via SSH using the same root password, I receive the following error:
"Permission denied, please try again."
For context, the root password was working perfectly for both WHM and SSH logins before using the Transfer Tool.
Any guidance on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Use the IP to login. It might be possible that the hostname is now pointing to the new server rather than to the old still.

What Andrew said - the Transfer Tool has no means to change the root password of the server.

I finally fixed it. It was CPHulk acting up. Asked my provider to log in and disable it.

I'm glad that's all it was!
