How to stop/block WHM silently self-updating over night?
Hi, this is the second time that I witness this behavior from WHM and I would like an explanation and the procedure to make sure that this never happens again:
Yesterday, there was a notification in the top right corner which said that 126.0.18 was available. We were on 126.0.16 and did not wish to update at this time. This morning, I woke up and the notification was not there anymore. I looked at the top bar and it's on 126.0.18 !
This is not the first time that this happens and I'm not sure why/when WHM began to silently auto-update but I want to know how to stop this behavior.
Any pointers?
Please note that I would still like to see the notifications in the top/right corner when updates are available. I just don't want them to silently be installed over night. I want to manually do them.

Thanks for the link, but wait, so every time cPanel messes up and pushes a buggy update, we have to just tell our customers to stop working and that this is how cPanel envisions server grade software in 2025? How is this an improvement over DELAYED, manual updates like we always had before? I feel like update tiers are no longer a thing at cPanel. Everything is bleeding edge/experimental.
And why are they forcing updates so quickly when they come out? What would it hurt to have the stable tier delayed until it's ACTUALLY stable?

In root command prompt open file:
/etc/cpupdate.conf
and set:
UPDATES=manual
save the file and after that cPanel/WHM does not update automatically.0 -
Thanks, but will this still notify me of updates in the top/right corner when they come out?

Yes, you'll still see that updates area available in the interface.
