Renewing SSL certificate of WHM/cPanel
AnsweredHi there,
Hope all is well.
A few months back, I purchased the WHM/cPanel license via Linode. The URL looks like this - https://<IP address>.cprapid.com:2087 (whm) and https://<IP address>.cprapid.com:2083 (cpanel). The SSL is issued by Let's Encrypt with 90 days validity.
Now the SSL of this subdomain is expiring tomorrow. I have checked the "User" tab under autossl, but the domain user uses a different SSL provider. I just want to set up an autorenewal process for the WHM/cPanel with Let's Encrypt
Please let me know how I can do that.
Many thanks,
Raj

Hey there! Ideally you should be setting a custom hostname on the server that uses a real domain that you own. https://docs.cpanel.net/whm/networking-setup/change-hostname/
Once that is in place the AutoSSL tools will work normally, or you can force them to run for the hostname with this command:
/usr/local/cpanel/bin/checkallsslcerts

Yes that would be ideal, but as I have limited time, I'm wondering if it would renew the SSL automatically.
I might create the custom domain for the next cycle.

You can still run the command manually anytime and that will show you any errors related to the renewal.

Hi, I have created the custom subdomain which points to the cPanel/WHM and it worked great. I just had to change the hostname from the WHM and update the DNS IP address.
Thank you for the suggestion.

That's exactly how easy it should be - glad it worked!
