PHP Startup error due to libtidy started today
Hello,
Today I noticed error logs growing fast and noticed this error is being logged for each php request:
[10-Jul-2025 21:37:51 UTC] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'tidy.so' (tried: /opt/cpanel/ea-php74/root/usr/lib64/php/modules/tidy.so (libtidy.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory), /opt/cpanel/ea-php74/root/usr/lib64/php/modules/tidy.so.so (/opt/cpanel/ea-php74/root/usr/lib64/php/modules/tidy.so.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)) in Unknown on line 0
I have not made any change at all myself. I just saw an announcement here at the forums home page, about an update to EasyApache4, and it mentions a change in libtidy. Could this be the cause?
Right now I tried uninstalling tidy extension for php 7.4, the one being used, and that stopped this error. But the extension is uninstalled.
This server uses CloudLinux 9.6
Please help me, how can I resolve this?
Thank you!

Hey there! The CloudLinux team is aware of the issue and they are working on an update for the ea-php package after we changed ea-libtidy. The case number on their end is EA4D-677, but this is a known issue with the packages coming from CloudLinux at this time.
Once this is resolved your server will automatically update so you don't need to do anything on your end.

Thank you! So the extension will get installed again with that update?

The extension wouldn't be manually reinstalled, but once the update happens you would no longer get that error when it is installed.
