PHP on WHM update help please

Hi, I need to update PHP to 8.1. I went in the root WHM to update the PHP. 

If I update the PHP will it auto update the websites or will it only be an option in the cpanel MultiPHP Manager?

Chatgpt tells me this answer. It is correct to recommended PHP 8.1 and Extensions?

Step-by-Step to Install PHP 8.1:

  1. Click on PHP 8.1 and Extensions (recommended)

  2. On the next screen, check the box for PHP 8.1 if it's not already checked

  3. Scroll down and select any needed extensions

    • Common ones: mbstring, zip, curl, gd, pdo, mysqli

    • You can skip extensions if you’re unsure — you can always add them later

  4. Click Next or Review

  5. Click Provision

⚠️ This will install PHP 8.1 and make it available in WHM’s MultiPHP Manager.

    If a domain in cPanel has "inherit" selected in MultiPHP Manager, instead of a particular PHP version, it will use the PHP version that is set in WHM MultiPHP Manager.

    The CPanel PHP only goes to 7.4.

    Do you mean that you can't select PHP 8.1 in cPanel?

    No I can't. I need to go in the WHM and install the PHP 8.1 before I can pick it in the cpanel. I need help to know if the AI instructions are correct before I install PHP 8.1.  I'm a freelance website design and I'm great with wordpress and understand a lot of cPanel but the WHM is not something I normally deal with or understand.

    Yes, all PHP versions are handled through the WHM >> EasyApache tool.  Once you install the PHP version there it will show us as available for the end user in their interface.

    I always select the "and extensions" choice when I have that option so I don't have to look through them manually.

    Hi, I got WHM php updated. Right now everything is on PHP 7.4. I tried to update the domain to PHP 8.3. Now the domain is giving me error message below. Why could this be happening?  Thank you

    Service Unavailable

    The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

    Additionally, a 503 Service Unavailable error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Whenever there is an issue with the website it's always best to start by checking the main Apache log on the server, which is at /etc/apache2/logs/error_log.  Do you see any information there that may be helpful?

    I often see that message when changing PHP versions, just refresh your browser after a few minutes.

    I expect the site needs to reload the updated .htaccess file.
