Backup process finishing a backup by pruning it
Look at these logs, do you see anything strange?
/usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup/1755244802.log:[2025-08-15 02:00:02 -0600] info [backup] Pruning metadata for backup at /backup/2025-08-15
/usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup/1755244802.log:[2025-08-15 04:58:34 -0600] info [backup] Pruning backup directory: /backup/2025-08-15
Yes, the server is pruning the backup it just finished creating...
More info: the backup is configured for just daily backups and just 1 day retention, also, there is one backup in /backup, but it is from February.
Any clues?
I mean, I can go and delete that old backup just to try but... delete the backup it just created?

Hey there! The pruning operation is normal and I'd expect that to happen immediately, so I'd expect to see that there.
I wouldn't have any ideas on why there is just one backup from February lingering, and it's unlikely the logs from that time would still be in place to check. I'd just remove that if you no longer need it.

I don't we are understanding each other, The backup process is deleting the backup it just created, that is the problem. It spends a couple of hours creating a backup and, as a last step, it deletes it... One would think that if you have a one day retention it would delete the old backup, not the one that was made 10 seconds ago...

Oh! That's definitely not ideal.
Since you're only keeping one I'd definitely ensure that there is nothing else in that directory that could cause an issue, like the old February backup. If you're still seeing the same behavior once that is removed it would likely be best to create a ticket so this can be investigated directly on the server.
